However, the problem is that most WordPress sites do not allow users to edit their comments once they are published.

WHY ALLOW USERS TO EDIT OR DELETE THEIR COMMENTS
Most WordPress sites allow users to submit comments on articles after providing their name and email address. However, users are typically not allowed to edit or delete their comments once submitted. Sometimes, people want to make changes to their comments after clicking the “submit” button.
The most common reason is to fix mistakes such as spelling or grammatical errors. Some users may also wish to modify their comments by adding or removing something. Whatever the case, allowing people to edit their comments for a short period of time, perhaps for the first 5 or 10 minutes, can be the best solution.
During that time, they will be allowed to modify or delete their comments. The reason for adding a time limit is to prevent link builders and spammers from abusing the comment section by adding links to their approved comments.

ALLOWING USERS TO EDIT COMMENTS IN WORDPRESS

After activation, the plugin will allow your users to make changes to their comments within the first 5 minutes. After this initial period, users will no longer be able to edit or delete their comments.
You can adjust this time limit by navigating to “Settings >> Simple Comment Editing” in your WordPress admin area. Enter your desired time limit in the text field on the settings page.
However, it is recommended to set the limit to under 30 minutes, since the purpose is to allow users to promptly correct errors.
Once you’ve set the time, click on the “Save Options” button to save your changes.
Next, we recommend leaving a test comment on one of your posts to see the plugin in action. After submitting your comment, you will see a “Click to Edit” link and a countdown timer below the comment text. This timer indicates the remaining time within which you can edit your comment.
To modify your comment, simply click on the “Click to Edit” link. You will be able to make changes to your comment, but please note that you will not be able to change your email, name, or website URL.
Once you are finished editing, click on the “Save” button to update your comment.
If you wish to delete your comment, click on the “Delete” button. An alert box will appear asking you to confirm that you want to delete your comment. Click “OK” to complete the process.
